Capel Cymraeg Ddulyn
Dublin Welsh Chapel

Does ddim llawer o pobol yn gwybod am yr Capel Cymraeg sy’n Talbot Street yn ganol Dulyn – yr unig gapel Gymraeg a fu yn Iwerddon. Erbyn hyn mae’r capel yn siop, er mae’n bosib gweld gweddillion yr hen capel (fel a welwch uchod).

Adeiladwyd capel yn Talbot Street yn 1838 i gwasanaethu yr forwyr Cymreig ag daeth y capel o dan awdurdod Henaduriaeth Môn.  Am gyfnod bu’r adeilad yn siop esgidiau, wedyn yn neuadd snwcer, ond erbyn hyn mae’r adeilad mewn adfeiliad ag mae’r Chymdeithas Cymraeg yn Iwerddon, Y Draig Werdd, yn gobeithio cael yr adeilad ar yr rhestr o adeiladau rhestredig.

The Draig Werdd (The Welsh Society in Ireland) has submitted an application for the old Welsh Chapel on Talbot Street in Dublin to be listed by Dublin City Council as a protected structure. It was the only Welsh chapel in Ireland and served the Welsh seamen who came to Dublin and the original services were conducted in Welsh by the ship captains. There were also Welsh living in Dublin working as servants and others attending Trinity College, as it was a convenient university for those from North Wales, who went to the chapel.
